Helen started working in optics at the age of 16. She began her career at a family run, independent opticians, over time becoming practice manager where she stayed for 20 years before moving to Hanson Opticians, Mirfield in November 2008 when it first opened its doors to the public.
During her career she has developed a vast knowledge of the optical industry and seen many changes along the way. She has been awarded an advanced diploma from the worshipful company of spectacle makers and various contact lens awards. She keeps up to date with the latest lens designs and new lens technologies with in-house training and knows everything from the general day to day running of the practice down to the glazing of spectacles. She is confident with dispensing the most complex spectacle prescriptions, all adjustments of spectacles and components with in-house repairs.
Helen is an extremely valuable asset to the Hanson Opticians team. During her spare time, Helen likes to spend time with her husband Gerard, socialising with friends and family and foreign travel. Helen has no children but ‘’Sidney cat’’ is her boy.
Jo would describe herself as very much a people person. She enjoys socialising and meeting new people. Jo has worked in optics for 12 years and very much enjoys what she does. She loves to build a good rapport with patients of all ages. Whether its staying in their comfort zone or trying new products, she likes to make them feel welcome and confident about the whole experience.
