Senior citizens usually need the most attention when it comes to eye health. Some elderly people and people with disabilities may have difficulty travelling to and from the practice, and sometimes carers are unavailable for the appointment time slots. There are also other issues associated with mobility such as lack of public transport or navigation problems.

At Hanson Opticians we provide flexible and friendly home visits to all those patients having difficulties coming directly to the practice.

Hanson Opticians will ensure that you receive a thorough eye examination and expert eye care advice. Our optometrist is fully qualified and experienced in conducting eye examinations in the home environment. We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality eye care at an appointment time that suits you.

We need only a few details to check your eligibility for the free eye test at home, then a time will be arranged for the visit.

The optometrist will call you on the telephone the day before visiting, to ensure the appointment is still convenient for you. Once confirmed, they will come over and chat to you about your eye care history or any problems you have been having with your vision or eyes. Following this, they will conduct the eye examination using specialist equipment designed for use in homes.

If the optometrist prescribes you with glasses, then these are readily available and we are able to provide a wide range of different choices and designs to suit all tastes. If you are eligible for NHS funding, then you make get a contribution from the NHS towards the cost of your glasses.

The glasses will be custom made for you within 14 days of the visit. Following this, another short appointment will be made to ensure that your glasses are fitted correctly and comfortable for you.

House bound clients qualifying for an NHS eye examination receive our service free of charge through the National Health Service.
